APRIL 2026
Monthly Progress Summary
OVERVIEW
No physical restoration work was carried out during April. The Grotto remained closed and the contractor had not remobilized following the regional security-related suspension. Project activity therefore centered on coordination, off-site testing and the measures required to restart the work safely and recover lost time.
KEY PROGRESS
- Maintained continuous communication with the contractor and requested a clear mobilization program and detailed recovery plan.
- Reiterated the need for the immediate return of the technical teams as conditions improved, together with submission of outstanding technical documentation.
- Transferred rock samples to specialized laboratories abroad to support the structural assessment and future conservation decisions.
- Held a progress meeting on 28 April that reviewed the schedule delay, absence of manpower, incomplete work planning and pending reports, and requested corrective action.
IN BRIEF: The program remained in a critical delay condition. Priorities for May were confirmed mobilization, sufficient qualified personnel, a detailed action plan and delivery of the outstanding reports.
